Step 1: Enable using Unit of Measure

The first step is to enable the function Unit of Measure in your Magento site. (it will affect all the warehouse).

You can go to Backend → Retail Management → Settings → Unit of Measure to enable the config.

Step 2: Create Unit of Measure Type

The next step is to create the Unit of Measure Type for your warehouse.

To access the Unit of Measure Type list, you can go to Menu → Inventory → Unit of Measure.

Unit of Measure Type can be Length, Weight, Unit,… so that their Unit of Measure can be cm, m for length, kg, g, tons for weight,…

Next, you can click on Add New UoM Type button.

The New UoM Type popup is shown, you fill in the name can click on Create button.

Step 3: Create Unit of Measure

After you have created the UoM type, you can start creating Unit of Measure for it.

In the UoM Type details page, you can either delete the UoM Type, create the UoM for it or change the name of UoM Type.

You must create a Base Unit for the UoM first. (The base unit must has the conversion rate = 1, so that other UoM can be converted to each other through the Base Unit).

Example for conversion rate:

If the UoM Type is weight, and your base unit is kg, this is how you should set up your unit of measure:

+ kg conversion rate = 1

+ tons conversion rate = 1000. Which means that 1 tons = 1000 kg

+ g conversion rate = 0.001. Which means that 1 g = 0.001 kg

Step 4: Assign Unit of Measure to products

In the RMS → Inventory Management → Product Details page, user can assign the Unit of Measure to the product.
