How to install a custom app in Shopify Admin and register to Magestore POS
A. Legacy Custom App:
This setup normally works with the store having access to legacy custom app right in their Shopify Admin.
I. Install a custom app
To use Magestore POS, we expect you to generate a custom app from Shopify Admin. Then configure this custom app to get access to Magestore POS.
Step 1: Create a new custom app
First, you need to open the Settings page of Shopify. In the App and sales channels tab:
Click on the button “Develop apps”
Click on Develop app → Allow custom app development
Next, create an app
Fill in the app name and select the app developer
Click on the Create app button and move to step 2.
Step 2: Configure required scopes
To integrate Magestore POS, you must configure the Admin scope for the newly created custom app.
In the Configuration app of this custom app, click on the Configure button of Admin API integration
Select 19 scopes below :
write_assigned_fulfillment_orders
read_assigned_fulfillment_orders
write_customers
read_customers
read_discounts
write_draft_orders
read_draft_orders
read_inventory
read_locations
write_merchant_managed_fulfillment_orders
read_merchant_managed_fulfillment_orders
write_orders
read_orders
read_price_rules
read_product_listings
write_products
read_products
read_locales
write_third_party_fulfillment_orders
read_third_party_fulfillment_orders
When done, click on Save.
The Install app button will then be enabled. Click on that to complete creating a custom app.
The generated custom app will be shown as below image:
II. Register to Magestore POS
Step 1: Install the custom app and get a connection to Magestore POS
To activate the Magestore POS app, firstly you need to get 3 fields below from your custom app:
Access token
API key
API secret key
Remember that the Admin API access token can be only revealed once. So we suggest you save it in your browser for later usage.
Step 2: Register an account in Magestore POS
After getting the custom app's API access token and API key, access the Magestore POS URL: http://admin.pos.magestore.com/
In the Create an Account page, fill in all required fields
Store key: this is the prefix of your Shopify URL, in front of the .myshopify.com
Username: fill in an easy-to-remember username for login to both POS Admin and POS Checkout.
Password and Password confirmation: fill in at least 7 characters for passwords, with both numeric and alphabetical ones
If the login screen will be shown first, click on Sign up here button for registration.
Once you enter valid content, click the Sign-Up button to move to the Shopify Integration page.
Fill in the API access token, API key, and API secret key saved in the above step.
Then, click the Activate app button to start using the Magestore POS app.
There are two available pricing plans, Lite and Standard, to activate the app. Please Try for Free after activating the app successfully!
III. Login to POS and do the Checkout
Once you have activated the app successfully, set up POS data first, such as POS locations, roles, staff, etc.

For further usage, access this URL to log in to POS Admin: http://admin.pos.magestore.com/
For Checkout, go to this URL to open POS Checkout (or POS frontend): http://pos.magestore.com/
Here you can place orders, take payment, fulfill, or reorder, etc.
B. Dev Dashboard custom app (new from 2026)
Starting from January 1st 2026, the legacy custom app will not be available for merchants to take actions right in Shopify Admin. https://changelog.shopify.com/posts/legacy-custom-apps-can-t-be-created-after-january-1-2026

I. Create dev dashboard custom app
You can directly open the Dev Dashboard URL of your Partner organization:
Path: https://dev.shopify.com/dashboard/[your_store_id]/app
Or you can get access from the Shopify Admin => Settings page:
Settings => Apps => Develop app => Build app in Dev Dashboard
When in Dev Dashboard, go to Apps => Create app
Fill in a certain app name (eg: Magestore POS) => Click Create
Then, the system will bring you to the page of Versions. Here, enter necessary information:
URLs => App URL => Enter site of our Magestore POS: https://admin.pos.magestore.com
Access => Scopes => Select scopes => Define 20 scopes as mentioned in part A above
When Done, click Create version to finish steps of generating new custom app
II. Manage app distribution in Shopify Partner
After step in part B.I, go to general page of this new custom app
Select Distribution => Select distribution method
Here, system will redirect you to Shopify Partner => details page of App distribution of this custom app
Select option of Custom distribution
Then, enter your Shop domain to Generate install link
III. Get secret key and API key from Dev Dashboard custom app
Access your Dev Dashboard => This new custom app (as in part B.II) => Settings page
Get your
API key
Secret key
to fill in the registration form of our Magestore POS
With Dev Dashboard custom app, Access Token is automatically generated via these 2 keys. Therefore, just concern about the step to get these 2 keys.
IV. Install custom app into current Shopify Admin store & Register Magestore POS
After steps in part B.II, copy the generated Custom link and run it
Then, system will redirect you to your Shopify Admin, then ask you to install this new custom app into your store
Click Install to assign this custom into your store
Our Magestore POS Admin can be opened right in your Shopify Admin, or you can normally access the url of POS Admin
Then, register new account, enter information of
Store domain
Username
Email
Password
In page of activating app, select option of Dev Dashboard
Enter your Secret Key and API Key (as in part B.III) => Activate app
When done, subscribe to POS pricing to start using Magestoer POS (as in part A.II).
