As a store owner, I want to allow the customer to take the products in the store, then checkout via the kiosk by themselves, to avoid the queue at the cash register & speed up the checkout process
4. Main flow (Required)
The most common path of interactions between the user & the system:
1. Customer bring r purchases to the self-checkout line
2. Some systems let customers start checkout immediately by scanning a product. Other self checkout POS might ask customers to log in with their membership details or continue as a guest. The customer can scan their card, search for their email, or input their membership details into the POS screen to start the checkout.
3. The customer can scan the product barcode to add items to cart. If there are issues with the barcode, they can look up the product on the POS screen or get a store associate to help them.
During this step, if the self-checkout system includes a packing area, the customer will have to put the correct item into the bagging area before they can continue checkout.
For produce, place the item onto the scale. The scale is usually part of the scanner, so simply place the item on the scanner to get it measured and enter the four-digit item number.
If scan regulated goods, such as medicine, alcoholic beverages, tobacco products, or adult games/movies, then customers will have to wait for the self-checkout attendant to check their ID.
4. Once customers have scanned all of items, select this button to indicate that they are ready to pay for the order.
5. Customer scan each coupon if yes into the barcode scanner to get discounted for the order
6. Customer chooses how they will pay for the purchase. If the customer selects a credit card, they should proceed to use the integrated payment terminals.
In addition to cash and credit cards, some retailers also accept store credits or gift cards and other vouchers on their self checkout terminals.
7. Once the order is complete, the POS kiosk will print a receipt for the customer.
8. Customer needs to keep this receipt for security checks and future product returns.
9. POS should return to the welcome screen after a complete purchase. It should also time out after a period of inactivity.
